Nicknamed the "Mountains of the Moon," this glaciated equatorial range is notorious among trekkers for near-permanent mud, bog and rain that make it a far tougher physical proposition than its modest technical grade suggests — multi-day routes cross swamp on wooden boardwalks that are themselves often underwater.
