A steep, exposed unmarked route above Wanaka linking the Matukituki and Dart valleys via a high alpine saddle with glacier and avalanche terrain — DOC explicitly warns it's only for people who are experienced, fit and comfortable route-finding without track markers; it has a real history of search-and-rescue callouts and fatalities in poor weather.
